Pauline Bragg
I began training dogs in the early 80's with a rescued Doberman
Pincher. Because of his lack of AKC papers we never competed.
In the mid 80's I bought my first German Shepherd. I proceeded
to train her, attending classes at various facilities two and
three times a week. She received the AKC CDX title. We never went
on to highest AKC title, the UD. However, we did continue training
on our own. I taught her scent discrimination, hand signals, jumping
and retrieving. She knew articles by their name and could retrieve
them whether they were in sight or not. She would bring guests
a soda from the refrigerator, turn lights on and off and help
carry objects for household chores. In the late 80's I bought
my second German Shepherd. With her I worked on tracking, bite
work and German obedience. She received her German BH title.
Through the years I trained under several trainers, gathering
information and technique. I began to train dogs professionally
in the late 80's in a kennel I opened in Belchertown with full
boarding, training and grooming.
In the early and mid 90's I published a newsletter "Dog
Views" with a variety of articles on training, nutrition,
and health.
Today, I live in Springfield, MA. I breed and train my
own German Shepherds. A puppy from every litter is donated to
either the police department or to the NEADS program to work with
disabled individuals.
In Genesis 1:27, God gives us dominion over animals. This
responsibility includes training and socializing our dogs to live
respectably among the human community. I take my profession seriously
and believe that am accountable for my decisions, therefore, I
will not compromise my standards.
